Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - NICU
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Respiratory Care with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and/or Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience required.
- Facility Type: Children's Acute Care Hospital, Level 1 Trauma, Teaching Hospital.
- Shift Requirements: Weekend shifts every other weekend.
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week.
- Floating: May be required to float within scope to meet facility needs.
- Locals: Not accepted.
- Pending License: Accepted.
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: 2 requests allowed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri (pending licenses accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience working with Neonate patients
- Experience working with Pediatric patients
- Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience
Additional Requirements
- Background Checks: Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches.
- Education Verification: Verification of highest related education required.
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test (N95 respirator) required and must be current.
- Immunizations and titers including Tdap, TB test or equivalent, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella.
- Drug testing within 1 year, including a comprehensive panel.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season.
- Competency Exams: Pediatric pharmacology and unit-specific competency exams required annually.
- References: Two professional references required, preferably supervisors within the last year.
- Skills Checklist: Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start.
Certifications (may be required or preferred depending on unit)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) if applicable
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) if applicable
Facility Policies & Compliance
- Must complete facility-specific orientation modules and HIPAA acknowledgment annually.
- Required to review and sign policies including hand hygiene, fingernail, dress code, latex allergy, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.
- Badge photo required within 6 months of start.
- Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) registration required.
- Various state-specific background and exclusion checks required for Missouri and Illinois placements.
Notes
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position.
- On-call shifts are not required.
- Candidates must be prepared to work in a pediatric and neonatal critical care environment.
- Candidates must adhere to all facility policies and complete all required documentation prior to start.
