Job Opportunity: Neuro ICU Registered Nurse

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Description
- 20-bed Neuro ICU unit caring for adult patients with traumatic brain injuries (TBI), strokes, epilepsy, and other head traumas.
- Patients do not go to recovery room post-op; recovery occurs in the unit.
- Multi-care level unit; RNs may care for up to five Med Surg patients.
- EVD (External Ventricular Drain) experience required; EVDs placed at bedside.
- Joint Commission stroke certification required.
- Care for GRID patients with implanted EEG leads for seizure detection (patients may stay up to 3 weeks).
- Drip management required on all floors.
- EPIC charting experience required.
- Floating within scope to other units may be required (including Bellevue campus). Possible units: 4CS, 5 West, 6 Neuro, 4/5 Lied, 6/7 Lied, 7 HVU, 8 Werner, 9 Trauma, Bellevue MS, Observation, SOTU.
- Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, swoop/paramedics; LPNs assigned on some floors.
- 100% nicotine-free facility.
Schedule & Time Off
- Shift options: 36 or 48 hours.
- Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (Days: Sat & Sun; Nights: Fri & Sat night).
- RTO (Request Time Off) restrictions: Up to 2 weeks permitted; must be submitted with application. Additional requests at manager discretion.
- Holiday requirement: Must work 2/3 major holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska.
- Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience, with Neuro ICU experience within the last year.
- At least 2 years of total travel nursing experience.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical record charting system.
Prior Travel Experience
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required, but first-time travelers are generally NOT accepted unless they meet the experience criteria above.
Additional Requirements
- Candidate must live more than 100 miles from the facility (no locals accepted).
- Background checks, drug screening, and various health documents (immunizations, physical exam, fit test, TB testing, etc.) required prior to start and maintained annually.
- Government-issued photo ID required.
- Annual skills checklist and references from work within the past 2 years required.
- Flu vaccine preferred but not mandatory. COVID vaccine preferred but exemptions accepted.
