Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist - NICU

Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Must hold a Massachusetts Respiratory Therapist license.
  • Previous NICU experience is required; candidates without NICU experience will not be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience, including critical care experience.
  • Experience working in a Level 1 trauma center with high acuity patients is required.
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
  • Schedule includes every other weekend, major holidays, and cross-campus coverage (including shifts from 6 AM to 6 PM at one campus).

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Massachusetts
  • Minimum of 3 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including within the last year
  • NICU experience
  • 3 years of critical care experience
  • Experience working in a Level 1 trauma center with high acuity patients
  • Current certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Additional Requirements

  • Valid government-issued ID.
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history and education verification.
  • Health documents including physical exam within 12 months, immunizations (TB, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap), and drug testing within 30 days of start.
  • Compliance with facility-specific vaccination or declination policies (COVID-19, flu, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap).
  • Pass required competency exams (medication, EKG/dysrhythmia as applicable).
  • References: 2 within the last 3 years.
  • Employment application covering 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
  • Skills checklist updated annually as applicable.

Work Environment

  • Level 1 trauma center with high acuity patients.
  • Cross-campus coverage required, including shifts at multiple locations.
  • Shift hours may include 12-hour shifts (6 AM to 6 PM).

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
  • Candidates must have NICU experience clearly documented in their profile to be considered.
