Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Patient population includes General Rehab, Stroke Rehab, Spinal Cord Rehab, and Brain Injury Rehab.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
- Weekend shifts required
- Float requirement applies
- No call required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
- Minimum 2 years of Long Term Acute Care experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel assignment
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification
- ARRT certification as MRI Technologist or Diagnostic (Interventional Radiologic Technologist)
- ARDMS certification
- NMTCB certification
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) – verify based on specific unit needs
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 12 months and updated annually
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 12 months and updated annually (for applicable units)
- Core competencies (Parts I, II, III) must be updated annually
Additional Requirements
- Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation
- Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days
- Drug screening within 30 days of start date
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per current guidelines
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination (required Oct 1 – March 31)
- Compliance with employee appearance policy and facility-specific requirements
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam with minimum 80% score
Work Environment
- Scrubs color: Royal Blue
- Float and weekend shifts required
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with prior travel contract experience who are comfortable working in a rehabilitation-focused environment and have proficiency with Epic EHR.
