Location: Fredericksburg, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel / Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Start Date: ASAP
Shift: Night shift
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend plus every other holiday
On Call: Potential mandatory on call, approximately 2 shifts per month
Floating: Required to float within scope to ER, Adult ICU Stepdown, floors, pediatric unit, and NICU as needed

Job Description
- Position requires a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and adult patient care skills.
- Must be able to float between NICU, Emergency Room (ER), Adult ICU Stepdown units, adult floors, and pediatric units.
- NICU assignments vary based on patient acuity; this is not a NICU-only role.
- Responsibilities include airway management, medication administration, arterial blood gases (ABGs), oxygen therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, BiPAP, CPAP, and nebulizer treatments.
- Experience preferred in NICU, ER, adult ICU, emergency department, and level 2 trauma.
- Night shift duties include aerosol therapies, bronchial hygiene, lung inflation therapies, arterial blood gas draws and analysis, and CPAP/BiPAP management.
- Must attend monthly department meetings or review meeting minutes and acknowledge understanding.
- Work setting includes adult critical care, ER, and community hospital environments.
Required Qualifications
- Current Virginia state license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA provider card required)
- Certified Respiratory Therapist Technician (CRTT)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA provider card required)
Note: There is a 90-day window from start date to obtain ACLS certification; travelers may start with it pending. - Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience
- Ability to float to multiple units as needed
- Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and be on call as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential (if not already held)
- Experience in NICU, ER, adult ICU, emergency department, and level 2 trauma settings
Special Skills / Requirements
- Proficient in airway management, medication administration, ABGs, oxygen therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, BiPAP, CPAP, and nebulizer treatments
- Experience with adult and neonatal intensive care, emergency department, and level 2 trauma preferred but not mandatory in all areas
- Ability to provide various aerosol, bronchial hygiene, and lung inflation therapies during night shifts
- Must be able to float to meet facility needs within scope of practice
