Job Opportunity: DEXA Technician

Location: Battle Creek, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in an outpatient setting
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Guaranteed 40 hours per week
  • No call, weekend, or float requirements
  • Primary responsibility: Bone Density Testing (DEXA)
  • Additional duties during downtime may include mammography screenings and potentially 3D scans
  • Open and close the unit daily, prepare paperwork related to exams, and perform other related duties as assigned

Required Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Radiology/Cardiology specialty
  • Accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)
  • Experience with Hologic Horizon W system preferred
  • Documentation system experience: EPIC and McKesson

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified
  • ARRT Mammography certification
  • Bone Density Testing (DEXA) certification required

Required Qualifications

  • Mammography Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ARRT Mammography certification
  • Experience with Epic documentation system

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search back to age 18
  • Education verification (copy of highest degree or diploma)
  • Michigan Central Registry Clearance required for certain specialties (not applicable here)
  • MI LARA fingerprinting may be required depending on assignment location and role
  • Completion of required facility-specific documents such as Code of Conduct and Appearance Standards Policy

Competencies & Additional Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam passed within 1 year prior to assignment start
  • Competency exam in specialty passed within 1 year prior to assignment start
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required

References & Documentation

  • One professional reference from a supervisor or manager required
  • Complete employment application/resume with full 7 years work history, no gaps

Work Environment & Other Notes

  • No weekend or call requirements
  • No floating to other units required
  • Fit testing may be required depending on specific assignment location and role
