Registered Nurse - MedSurg/Telemetry (Travel/Contract)
Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour day shifts
Patient Population: Primarily stroke patients, neurosurgery, epilepsy, traumatic and non-traumatic subdural hematomas, and other neurological diagnoses
Unit Details:
- 42 daily census, 43 rooms/beds
- 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) with optional training for nurses
- Patient care includes Med/Surg neuro and telemetry
Job Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of MedSurg/Telemetry nursing experience
- At least 1 year of direct MedSurg nursing experience within the last year
- Completion of 2 or more prior travel nursing assignments (no first-time travelers accepted)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- IV start experience
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
Required Qualifications & Compliance
- Must pass background checks and drug screening as per standard clinical requirements
- Required health documents include:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Must complete facility-specific mandatory education and compliance training
- Photo ID required for badge issuance (passport-style photo with specific guidelines)
- Must complete medication safety training and other facility-required modules prior to start
Additional Notes
- No Return to Origin (RTO) allowed after booking; call-offs or additional RTO may lead to contract cancellation
- Frequent floating and weekend work required; schedule flexibility is essential
- Scrubs are not provided
- Must be able to work 36 or 48 hours per week
- Must be able to pass color blindness testing and medication/pharmacology competency exams as required
This position is ideal for experienced MedSurg/Telemetry RNs with prior travel contract experience who are comfortable with neurological patient care and flexible scheduling including floating and weekend shifts.
