Registered Nurse - MedSurg/Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour day shifts
Patient Population: Primarily stroke patients, neurosurgery, epilepsy, traumatic and non-traumatic subdural hematomas, and other neurological diagnoses
Unit Details:

42 daily census, 43 rooms/beds
4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) with optional training for nurses
Patient care includes Med/Surg neuro and telemetry

Job Requirements

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 2 years of MedSurg/Telemetry nursing experience
At least 1 year of direct MedSurg nursing experience within the last year
Completion of 2 or more prior travel nursing assignments (no first-time travelers accepted)
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
IV start experience
Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement

Required Qualifications & Compliance

Must pass background checks and drug screening as per standard clinical requirements
Required health documents include:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
Must complete facility-specific mandatory education and compliance training
Photo ID required for badge issuance (passport-style photo with specific guidelines)
Must complete medication safety training and other facility-required modules prior to start

Additional Notes

No Return to Origin (RTO) allowed after booking; call-offs or additional RTO may lead to contract cancellation
Frequent floating and weekend work required; schedule flexibility is essential
Scrubs are not provided
Must be able to work 36 or 48 hours per week
Must be able to pass color blindness testing and medication/pharmacology competency exams as required

This position is ideal for experienced MedSurg/Telemetry RNs with prior travel contract experience who are comfortable with neurological patient care and flexible scheduling including floating and weekend shifts.
