Registered Nurse - Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Stockbridge, Georgia
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Job Summary

• Adult to Geriatric patient population
• Unit type: Overflow IMCU with cardiac telemetry focus
• Patient conditions include arrhythmia management, cardioversion, CHF, chest pain, renal, pulmonary (COPD, pulmonary edema), PE, DVT, post cardiac cath, DKA, surgical overflow (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains), occasional ortho or CVA overflow
• Ratio: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
• Unit beds: 32
• Systems used: Epic (preferred), Pyxis, SBAR
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed
• Call is rare; 2-hour response time if called
• Weekend shifts typically every other weekend, with permanent staff scheduled first
• Holiday work required if major holidays fall during assignment (expect to work 1-2 holidays depending on number during contract)
• Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7 PM - 7 AM)
• Maximum Return to Office (RTO) time: 7 days per contract

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Georgia
• Telemetry experience: Minimum 1 year, with telemetry experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience managing continuous IV medications

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background check completed within 30 days prior to start, including national and county criminal searches, sex offender registry, and education verification
• Education verification of related degree required (can be pending with proof of processing)
• Annual NURSYS license verification within 30 days prior to start
• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start (not required by client but required by agency)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, cocaine, opiates, methadone, PCP, propoxyphene, THC)
• Immunizations and titers required or documented:

  • TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months or documented positive with negative chest x-ray within 6 months
  • TB questionnaire updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
  • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
• Skills checklist updated within 12 months
• Work history verification of most recent employer (can be pending with proof)
• Two clinical references required

Additional Information

• Orientation hours are non-billable and proportional to contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
• Candidate must review and sign facility code of conduct and dress/professional appearance policies prior to start
• Call for Precedex administration typically reserved for core staff, not travelers
• Locals accepted at same rate
• Floating within the facility as needed, within scope of practice

This position requires a highly skilled RN with prior travel experience and strong cardiac telemetry skills, able to manage complex cardiac drips and arrhythmias in an IMCU overflow setting during night shifts.
