Job Description
Provide highly technical professional care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization/Special Procedures Lab. Assist physicians during procedures and operate technical equipment. Prepare room and equipment, instruct patients, monitor patient condition, and provide routine and emergency care during procedures. Must function with minimal supervision and contribute positively to the department atmosphere. Participate in on-call coverage to ensure timely patient care interventions.
Essential Job Functions
- Work collaboratively within a team of similarly skilled professionals.
- Handle emergency situations during high-risk procedures calmly and professionally.
- Communicate effectively and provide patient education with a calming presence.
- Interact professionally with physicians and team members to enhance team effectiveness.
- Participate in on-call responsibilities, responding within 30 minutes when required.
- Demonstrate knowledge and competency in invasive cardiovascular techniques and technology.
- Prepare and operate procedural equipment including x-ray cameras, procedure table controls, image processing equipment, hemodynamic monitors, ultrasound machines, and power injectors safely and precisely.
- Assist with Quality Assurance and Performance projects as directed.
- Model principles of Just Culture and organizational values.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, including experience within the last year.
- Significant experience in a Cath Lab setting.
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification OR American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and registration.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Exposure to potential hazards such as radiation, toxic chemicals, biological hazards, heat, noise, dust, and stress.
- Physical activity during workday includes sitting (10%), standing (25%), walking (15%), squatting (10%), bending (5%), twisting (5%), lifting (10%), kneeling (10%), and reaching above shoulder (10%).
- Frequent lifting of weights up to 35 lbs; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Work with adult and geriatric populations primarily; adolescent and young adult populations also included.
Additional Information
- Must be able to work under stress and meet deadlines independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to perform manual tasks, communicate clearly, and maintain punctuality is essential.
- This position provides direct patient care.

Cons
Cost of living. I-70 closes down a lot during winter. Staff drama. Some doctors are rude and condescending. Favoritism. Travelers will be sent into rooms so they can send full time staff home early.
