LDRP RN Position - Little Falls, Minnesota

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Experience Requirements

• Must have experience in Labor & Delivery (L&D)
• Must have Medsurg and Pediatrics experience
• Critical access experience preferred
• Previous travel experience not required

Unit Details

• Labor & Delivery Beds: 4
• Postpartum Beds: 6
• Separate triage beds: Yes, 1
• C-sections performed in the OR
• Follows AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • 1:1 during induction
  • 1:2 postpartum

Patient Types / Common Diagnoses

• Labor and Delivery
• Postpartum care
• Hyperbilirubinemia
• Preterm labor
• Triage patients

Clinical Responsibilities

• RNs required to titrate drips (e.g., Pitocin, cardiac drips, Heparin, sedation drugs)
• RNs monitor telemetry; HUC also trained to read tele
• RNs read their own strips; ICU and Charge Nurses assist as needed
• RT equipment available: Vents, CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow, Airvo
• Respiratory Therapist on call 24/7; RNs troubleshoot equipment

Staffing and Support

• Charge Nurse present each shift; usually does not take patient assignment unless necessary
• Nurse Aid on duty from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM
• No in-house OB/Neonatologist or Anesthesia 24/7; both on call
• Telemetry monitors: Phillips
• EFM system: GE

Scheduling and Shifts

• Shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
• Shifts rotate every 3 weeks (day/night)
• Weekend requirement: Every third weekend (option for straight weekend position)
• Holiday requirement: Every third holiday
• Call/standby requirement with 1-hour response time
• Floating: Nurses float to Med Surg/Peds when OB census is low
• Orientation: 1 twelve-hour unit-specific orientation shift

Additional Information

• No dress code; any scrub color allowed
• Attributes for success: communication, motivation, approachability
• Radius rule: Candidates must live within 50 miles and cannot have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN with certain affiliated facilities in the past year
• Return to Office (RTO) needed upfront; no additional RTO approved after submission
