Registered Nurse (Med Surg) - Night Shift

Job Details

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse
• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts (1830-0700)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Department Beds: 42
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:5-6, with at least one 1:6 ratio shift per week
• Patient Types: Medical, surgical, and orthopedic cases
• Charge Nurse: Present on each shift and takes patient assignments
• Call/Standby: None
• Floating: May be required to float to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Burn unit
• Weekend and Holiday Work: As needed

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of unit experience in Med Surg
• BLS Certification
• Valid driver’s license required at time of application (used to verify candidate is within 50-mile radius)
• Must pass a 90% score on a pass/fail open book exam during orientation (exam covers skills learned)
• Compliance with fingernail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove will result in contract termination

Orientation

• One week classroom orientation plus two 12-hour shifts on the floor

Unit Environment and Support

• No titratable drips except Heparin
• Respiratory Therapist available 24 hours on the floor
• Telemetry monitors present on the floor with a centralized telemetry station
• Nurse aides/patient care technicians available with a ratio of approximately 1:10-12
• Scrub color: Navy blue (scrubs provided)

Additional Information

• Candidates must not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with a specific large healthcare system within a 50-mile radius
• Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO extensions allowed
