Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Location: Batesville, Indiana
Contract Length: 6 weeks

Job Summary

• Inject radioisotopes and image patients to provide diagnostic images to physicians.
• Perform venipuncture and transfer patients.
• Operate Siemens Symbia Evo camera independently, including quality control (QC).
• Perform diagnostic nuclear scans according to NRC standards, Dexa scans, and venipuncture.

Work Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM (Day shift)

Required Qualifications

• Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) via NMTCB.
• Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMTCB) by the ARRT.
• Associate’s degree or equivalent in Nuclear Medicine Radiology.
• BLS/CPR certification.

Key Responsibilities

• Protect patient confidentiality, including securing computer screens and properly disposing of confidential information.
• Follow protocols for verbal orders, critical lab values, and physician order clarifications.
• Use standing orders when applicable.
• Perform chart audits and participate in electronic health record (EHR) reviews as requested.
• Accurately communicate patient condition and report sentinel events or adverse reactions.
• Adhere to patient safety goals, including use of two patient identifiers and final verification before invasive procedures.
• Reassess patients after interventions and document all care and education in the EHR.
• Demonstrate awareness of patient rights, spiritual care aspects, and ethical considerations.
• Maintain professional standards including dress code, hygiene, and phone etiquette.
• Ensure exam rooms are prepared, stocked, and equipment is sanitized and warmed up.

Additional Information

• No supervisory responsibilities.
• Must be able to work independently with specialized imaging equipment.
• Annual continuing education and training required.
