Telemetry South RN

Overview

• Travel contract for an experienced Telemetry RN in a hospital near Sacramento.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Shift: 12-hour days.
• Hours: 36 per week.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in California.
• BLS.
• ACLS.
• NIHSS.
• 2 years of experience.
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.
• Dysrhythmia exam (Basic) through UNA must be completed within 24-48 hours before acceptance.
• 2 supervisor references are required at submittal, including 1 within 12 months and 1 within 3 years worked.

Unit Details

• Unit: Telemetry 2 South.
• Beds: 14 South, 8 East.
• Ratio: 1:4.
• Charge nurse is generally not assigned patients but does break relief.
• Nurse aides are present as census and staffing dictates, usually 1-2.
• Telemetry is used.
• Vents: No.
• IV team: No.
• RT 24/7: Yes.
• Pharmacy 24/7: Yes.
• Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Yes.

Schedule and Work Expectations

• Every other weekend required.
• Holidays rotate with core staff.
• Self-scheduling is used, but schedules are not finalized until the manager balances them.
• OT and extra shifts are available.
• Block scheduling is generally not available.
• First to float.
• Floating includes MedSurg and Tele.
• Floor orientation is 1-2 days with a preceptor.

Clinical Focus

• Cardiac patient focus.
• General overflow.
• Stable non-titrating Cardizem, Amio, and Heparin.

Additional Notes

• Must be a flexible team member.
• Holiday time off may be considered but is not guaranteed.
• Facility-wide orientation is held the first week in Sacramento, not at the hospital location in Grass Valley.
• COVID declination is allowed with a physician’s note; religious declination does not require supporting documentation.
