4N Ortho-Neuro RN

Overview

• 13-week assignment in Parkersburg, West Virginia
• 12-hour night shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Unit: 4N Ortho-Neuro (1033)
• 33 beds, all private rooms
• Ratio: 1:6

Required Qualifications

• RN license: WV or compact license
• BLS
• Experience with ortho patients
• Experience with PCA pumps
• EPIC experience
• Unexpired copy of the candidate’s driver’s license must be included with submittal

Unit Details

• Common patient population includes elective hip, knee, and shoulder surgeries, fractures from falls, back and neck neuro-surgeries, and general MedSurg
• Remote tele may be used if needed; monitored by the 3rd floor
• RN does not need to read strips
• Charge nurse is available 24/7
• Day charge may take patients if necessary; night charge always takes a full patient assignment
• Patient care techs may be available, depending on staffing
• RT support can provide CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow

Scheduling / Work Expectations

• Every-other-weekend required
• Holidays depend on unit needs
• Travelers may be called off for low census
• Travelers are first to float
• Floating is required to any MedSurg units
• If floated to Tele, patients will be assigned within skill set
• Block scheduling may be allowed if unit needs are met

Orientation

• 1 day of EPIC orientation
• 1 day of floor orientation with a preceptor
• Third day on their own

Dress Code

• Royal blue scrubs
• Scrub jacket allowed only if it is an actual scrub jacket and royal blue
• Hoodies and sweatshirts are not allowed
