Job Opportunity: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Grand Island, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Travel assignment for Labor & Delivery RN, starting ASAP
- 12-hour shifts, 6-7 shifts per two-week period
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Holiday shifts may be required if needed
- No call or standby requirement
- Orientation: 1 week classroom + 2-3 shifts on the floor
- Unit is Blue Distinction+ for patient care with high patient experience scores
- Breastfeeding friendly environment
- No floating unless critical staffing, and then only for sitting or task duties
Unit Details
- Department: Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP)
- 15 LDRP beds and 15 postpartum beds
- Patient types: Obstetrics, postpartum, antepartum, post-surgical gynecology, pregnancy with hypertension or diabetes
- Common drips RNs titrate: Pitocin, Magnesium, Procardia
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:3 generally, 1:1 for laboring patients
- Charge nurse present on each shift and takes assignments
- No respiratory therapy equipment management beyond troubleshooting
- No telemetry/monitor techs; RNs do not read their own strips
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Certifications: BLS and NRP required
- Must pass a 90% score on a pass/fail open book skills exam during orientation
- Must comply with fingernail policy: artificial nails prohibited
- Valid driver’s license required at submission (used to verify candidate is outside 50-mile radius)
- Candidates may not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity)
Additional Notes
- Radius rule: candidate must live outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
- Return to orientation (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO approved
- Flexible scheduling required due to weekend and holiday needs
