OR - RN Position in Winnemucca, Nevada

Contract Length

Department & Work Environment

• Department: Operating Room (OR)
• Facilities: 2 OR suites and 1 Procedure Room (Endoscopy)
• EMR System: Cerner
• Scrub color and designated OR shoes provided by the hospital

Case Types

• General Surgery
• Orthopedics (including total joints)
• Podiatry
• Urology
• Obstetrics (including C-sections)
• Gynecology
• Pain Management
• Cardiology (pacemakers, TEEs)
• Endoscopy
• Mostly adult cases with occasional pediatric ortho or appendectomies

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year circulating RN experience
• Strong orthopedic experience required
• Willingness to train for endoscopy and cardiology
• Preferred experience in preoperative (preop) and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) as floating to these areas is expected
• Open to first-time travel nurses

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Circulating RN role (scrubbing not required)
• Floating to preop and PACU; rarely follow cases from OR to PACU
• Task work around departments during low case volume
• No charge nurse or house supervisor responsibilities for travelers
• Work alongside OR techs

Scheduling & Shifts

• 4 x 10-hour shifts per week, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM
• Call requirements:

  • 1 weeknight per week (5:00 PM to 6:30 AM)
  • 1 weekend per month (5:00 PM Friday to 6:30 AM Monday)
  • Call on major holidays, rotating with core staff
• Call response time: 20 minutes

Orientation

• Unit-specific orientation varies from 3 days (if strong in preop and PACU) up to 1 week
• Orientation includes Cerner EMR training

Additional Notes

• Candidates should confirm housing arrangements in the area prior to submission
• Average daily case volume varies widely (0 to 12 cases)
