Job Opportunity: Technologist – Cardiac Services
Location: Soldotna, Alaska
Employment Type: Contract Clinician
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Job Description
- Provide technical support and assistance to physicians during diagnostic and invasive cardiovascular and interventional radiology procedures.
- Perform scrub and hemodynamic monitoring duties during cardiac catheterizations, vascular, and interventional radiology procedures.
- Use clinical knowledge, technical skills, and professional judgment in accordance with professional and departmental standards and protocols.
- Assist in holding area and provide care assessment prior to, during, and post-procedural care and patient instruction.
- Prepare and maintain all pertinent procedural information.
- Utilize EPIC electronic health record system.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an approved school of radiologic technology.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in diagnostic and/or interventional cardiac catheterization and interventional radiology lab (higher of 2 or 4 years required).
- Certification: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) with four years of cath lab experience. Exam eligible at time of hire acceptable.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification.
- Demonstrated clinical competence in:
- Basic cardiac physiology/pathology
- 12-Lead EKG interpretation
- Physiologic monitoring including intracardiac pressure waveform knowledge
- Pacemaker operations (implantable and external)
- Use of radiographic equipment related to cardiac care
Preferred Qualifications
- Four (4) years combined experience in cardiac catheterization and interventional radiology lab.
- ARRT Advanced Level Certification in Cardiac Interventional Radiography.
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Five 8-hour shifts per week.
- Call required (details to be determined based on staffing).
- Some weekends may be required.
- Unit size: 4-6 beds.
- Dress code: Scrubs.
- Orientation includes service partner orientation on first day plus department-specific training.
Additional Notes
- This is a new service line with anticipated start-up.
- Experience with EPIC charting required.
- No indication that prior travel experience is required.
