Travel Perfusionist Opportunity

Location: Texarkana, Texas
Employment Type: Travel (Full Time)
Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Arrive 30 minutes before scheduled surgery for set-up)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Operate and maintain cardiopulmonary pump, Cell Saver, autotransfuser, and intra-aortic balloon pump during invasive cardiovascular procedures.
• Provide assistance to physicians and staff as needed during surgical procedures.
• Operate life support equipment for patients undergoing open-heart surgery, including cardiopulmonary bypass machine and heart bypass pumps.
• Operate extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and artificial heart console systems.
• Set up and operate Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) systems in various settings (OR, Cardiac Cath Lab, ICU).
• Manage anticoagulation-titration analysis systems and advise surgeons on cardiac drug administration.
• Set up and operate auto transfusion (blood cell saver) equipment for cardiovascular, orthopedic, vascular, and other surgeries.
• Maintain knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, cardiology, surgical techniques, physiologic monitoring, and patient care.
• Assist with quality and infection control data as needed.
• Ensure heart-lung machines are cleaned and maintained per manufacturer recommendations.
• Manage supply ordering and organizational activities related to perfusion equipment.

Requirements

Education & Certification

• Completion of an accredited perfusionist program required.
• Perfusionist licensure in Texas required.
• BLS certification (AHA only) required.
• Board eligible or certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience in perfusion preferred.
• Open to new graduates.

Additional Information

• Temp-to-perm option available.
• Work schedule is 5 days per week, 8 hours per day.
