Job Description

The CT Technologist performs computed tomographic procedures, including biopsies as requested by physicians. Responsibilities include:

• Working closely with the Radiologist.
• Manipulating exams to meet patient and doctor needs.
• Practicing ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.
• Ensuring positive patient identification before exams.
• Providing care while obtaining diagnostic quality images.
• Managing patient flow and obtaining pertinent medical information.
• Performing QA/QC in accordance with ACR guidelines.
• Maintaining equipment and exam rooms.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; graduation from an accredited radiologic technology program.
• Certifications/Licenses:

  • ARRT certification in CT (required)
  • New Mexico State license (required)
  • BLS certification (issued through American Heart Association, required)
  • IV certification (preferred)

Skills Required

• Thorough knowledge of radiographic equipment.
• Knowledge of advanced cross-sectional anatomy and physiology.
• Understanding of radiographic positioning and medical terminology.
• Basic computer skills.
• Proficiency in starting IVs.

Experience

• Minimum one year of radiographic experience required.
• One year of CT experience preferred.

Supervision

• Responsible to: Director of Radiology, Manager of Radiology, Clinical Supervisor, and CT Charge Technologist.

Work Environment

• Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and various body fluids.
• Exposure to ionizing radiation.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, position, push, and transfer patients and equipment exceeding 50 pounds regularly.
