Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health

Job Summary

As a Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. You will develop nursing care plans in coordination with patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff, communicate clinical changes to physicians and supervisors, and participate in discharge planning.

Work Details

• Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
• Weekend Hours: Every other weekend
• Call Requirements: No call
• Float Requirements: Yes
• Unit: Behavioral Health, all floors
• Patient Population: Adults, geriatrics, pediatrics (ages 5-17)
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:8 (lower ratios for geriatrics and pediatrics)
• Number of Beds: 104 beds across five units (2 adult units with 24 beds each, 24 geriatrics beds, 12 pediatrics beds)
• Electronic Health Record: Cerner
• Dress Code: Blue scrubs

Common Diagnoses/Treatments

• Schizophrenia
• Depression
• Bipolar disorder
• Substance use disorder
• Anxiety

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience in inpatient psychiatric/behavioral health setting (higher of stated requirements)
• Associate degree in Nursing or higher
• Willingness to work with both adult and pediatric populations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in behavioral health nursing

Additional Notes

• Must be able to work night shifts without a block schedule
• No call responsibilities
• Must be comfortable floating between units
