LPN/LVN - Rehab (Travel Position)
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide nursing care in an inpatient rehabilitation setting with a focus on patients recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations, complex orthopedic injuries, and other conditions requiring acute inpatient rehab.
- The unit functions similarly to a medical-surgical unit with high acuity patients.
- Patient population: Adults requiring inpatient rehabilitation services with high acuity needs.
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 7 patients.
- Facility is a 49-bed acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital.
Work Schedule & Environment
- Shift: 12-hour shifts, from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM (night shift).
- Weekend hours: Every other weekend and holiday rotations required.
- Call requirements: Yes.
- Breaks: Two 15-minute paid breaks and one 30-minute unpaid break per 12-hour shift.
- Staff must adhere to attendance and tardy policies and clock out for breaks.
- May be required to float to a satellite inpatient rehab facility within 20 minutes in the near future.
Required Qualifications
- Valid LPN / LVN license in Wisconsin
- Minimum 1 year of LPN / LVN experience within the last year
- Experience in a rehabilitation setting
- Medical-Surgical nursing experience
- Skilled nursing experience
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Additional Information
- The role requires active participation in patient safety, including assisting CNAs and responding to call lights.
- Equipment used includes mobility aids (ceiling lifts, Sara Stedy, Sara Plus, slide boards), vital sign machines, EKG machines, blood glucose monitors, and computers for charting.
- The facility is accredited by The Joint Commission and CARF for comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation and stroke specialty programs.
