Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery
Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36
Call Requirement: No call
Unit Overview
- 32 beds
- Approximately 150 staff members
- Patient ratio: 1:2
- Day and night shifts each staffed with 1 charge nurse, 1 co-charge nurse, and RNs to maintain 1:1 or 1:2 patient ratios
- Equipment used includes Novii, JADA, Fetal Pillow, IUPC, FSE, Toco, Ultrasound
- Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech
- Permanent positions available on the unit
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN, BLS, NRP, STABLE
- Competencies: Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM), intermediate fetal monitoring, SVE competency, C-Section circulation
Preferred Qualifications
- Competency in internal monitor placement
- Previous assignments or employment within similar hospital systems
- Experience in a high-volume (Level IV) Labor and Delivery unit
Typical Procedures Performed
- Spontaneous Vaginal Deliveries (SVD)
- Cerclages
- Cesarean Sections (C-Sections)
- Trial of Labor After Cesarean (TOLAC)
Work Environment & Culture
- Team-oriented with emphasis on positive attitude
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs required; solid blue, black, or grey sweatshirts allowed; T-shirts are not acceptable
- Adherence to attendance policies is mandatory
