Registered Nurse - OB/GYN (Labor and Delivery)

Location: Carthage, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
Weekend Hours: Every other weekend rotation / as needed
Call Requirements: 3 call shifts (12-hour shifts) per 4-week schedule

Unit & Patient Population

• Units: Labor & Delivery, Nursery, Postpartum
• Beds: 2 labor beds, 3 postpartum beds
• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
• Patient Population: Maternity women and newborns
• Common Diagnoses/Treatments: Labor management and care
• Electronic Health Record (EHR): Meditech

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• Experience in OB/GYN, Nursery, and Postpartum care
• Required Certifications (must be obtained prior to start):

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • AWHONN (Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) certification
• Experience with couplet care (caring for mother and newborn together)
• Must be checked against the Tennessee Abuse Registry prior to assignment start

Skills & Experience

• Must have experience with fetal monitoring and labor support
• Preferred (not required):

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • Experience with Centricity and Meditech EHR systems
  • Couplet care experience (caring for mother and newborn together)

Work Environment & Expectations

• Positive attitude, cooperative, and self-initiative are valued personality traits
• Float to other units as needed
• Dress code: Scrubs of any color allowed; casual or other facility apparel not permitted

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff
• Orientation is held weekly on Mondays prior to assignment start
