12-hour night shifts
Every other weekend
Holidays as needed
36 hours per week

Unit Overview

Level IV NICU
70-bed unit
Primary nursing model
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2 or 1:3

Patient Population

Prematurity (22–36 weeks)
HIE
Neurological disorders such as seizures, hydrocephalus, and neural tube defects
Cardiac lesions such as PDA, Tet, coarctation, and truncus
Respiratory issues such as RDS, TTN, and BPD
Renal conditions such as hydronephrosis
GI issues such as reflux, NEC, and Hirschsprung's
Tracheostomies
GI ostomies
Anomalies such as TEF and CDH

Procedures

Occasional bedside surgeries
PDA ligation
Chest tubes
Penrose drains

Floating

May float to PICU with a similar patient population

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (1 year of experience)
NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year
BLS
NRP

2–3 shifts
