Respiratory Therapist

Location: Johnson City, New York

Job Summary

Provide timely, accurate, and reliable respiratory therapy services to inpatients, outpatients, staff, and affiliated community groups.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapy procedures including aerosol therapy, CPT/Flutter/PEP mask therapy, incentive spirometry, M.D.I. therapy, suctioning, and extubation.
• Manage oxygen therapy and ensure oxygen tank safety.
• Manage BiPAP-CPAP therapy and alarms, high flow cannula/humidifier therapy and alarms, and mechanical ventilation including ventilator alarms.
• Perform cough assist/vest therapy and pulmonary function screening diagnostics.
• Conduct fit testing in coordination with Employee Health.
• Perform pulse oximetry and adult, pediatric, and neonatal EKG procedures.
• Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) for adults, pediatrics, and neonates.
• Perform arterial puncture and blood gas analysis, including quality control for the blood gas laboratory.
• Manage patient healthcare information systems and medication administration/dispensing programs.
• Verify physician orders for pulmonary and cardiology diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Record and report procedure results accurately.
• Maintain departmental files and bookkeeping records.
• Assist in departmental in-service programs and perform other assigned duties.
• Participate in external patient transports.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Graduation from an accredited School for Respiratory Therapy.

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience as a Respiratory Therapist.

Certifications & Licensure

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New York.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from the NBRC.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
