Registered Nurse - ACCU (Travel)

Job Description

• Assess patients on admission considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
• Reassess patient health needs at least every shift and as warranted by condition changes.
• Establish and update individualized plans of care based on comprehensive data.
• Administer oral, topical, and parenteral medications following the 7 rights of medication administration.
• Assess and document medication effectiveness and any adverse effects.
• Perform treatments and procedures adhering to nursing best practices, hospital policies, sterile technique, standard precautions, and patient privacy.
• Document patient care, pain management, discharge planning, education, and progress clearly and accurately.
• Educate patients and families based on assessed needs.
• Interpret diagnostic data and communicate changes in patient condition promptly to the healthcare team.
• Use SBAR communication for all handoffs.
• Respect patient rights including confidentiality, safety, and participation in care planning.
• Participate in multidisciplinary care planning.
• Manage patients in restraints according to policy.
• Follow National Patient Safety Goals and hospital policies including use of two patient identifiers.
• Understand and participate in disaster plans and rapid response activation.
• Complete orientation to Life Safety Standards (Code Blue, Code Pink, Code Red, Haz Mat, Oxygen shut off).
• Follow infection control policies and blood transfusion protocols.
• Adhere to Core Measures and vaccine control guidelines.

Critical Care Nurse Specific Tasks:

• Document initial assessments, care plans, progress notes, ICU flow sheets, medication records, reconciliations, critical values, and telephone orders.
• Use Pyxis system appropriately for narcotics.
• Administer high-risk medications per policy.
• Utilize pressure monitoring, bedside cardiac monitors, recognize cardiac dysrhythmias, and operate specialty beds.
• Manage pain and sedation protocols.
• Follow early mobility and protocols for sepsis, ventilator-associated pneumonia, pressure ulcers, and central lines.
• Understand nurse-collected specimens for Type and Cross/Screen.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for critically ill patients.
• Access appropriate resources when assistance is needed.
• Locate and use unit-specific policies as needed.

Contract Length

Approximately 13 weeks (90 days)

Required Qualifications

• Current California RN License
• ACLS Certification
• BLS Certification
• Conscious Sedation experience
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) knowledge
• CCRN certification highly preferred
• Minimum 5 years recent ICU RN experience in an acute care facility
• Prior travel experience highly preferred (1 year travel experience)

Additional Information

• Night shift assignment
• Traveler will float between ICU, Emergency Department, PACU, and Intermediate Care units to care for ICU and IMC patients

This position is ideal for experienced critical care RNs with strong acute care skills and flexibility to work across multiple critical care settings.
