Job Opportunity: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) - Travel/Contract

Location: Hunt Valley, Maryland

Job Description

  • Work 22.5 hours per week, 3 days per week
  • Provide services in 3 classrooms, each with approximately 6 students
  • Approximately 18 hours of direct service
  • Serve middle and upper hall students aged 14-21 years
  • Must hold a Maryland SLP license and ASHA CCC-SLP certification

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Maryland State SLP License (Primary source verification required)
  • ASHA CCC-SLP Certification (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider card only (required for all candidates)
  • Driver’s License/State ID - Government issued photo ID required

Additional certifications may be required depending on unit or role:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - as requested
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as applicable
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - as applicable
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as applicable

Competencies & Training

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
  • Competency Exams relevant to profession/specialty
  • Core HIPAA training or signed HIPAA form required for subcontractors
  • Educational Services - Mandatory Reporter training (annual renewal)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Fit Mask (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year of start; can be completed onsite during orientation
  • Negative TB test (QGOLD or TSPOT) within 1 year, updated annually; 2-step PPD accepted if completed prior to start
  • Annual TB Questionnaire required for all candidates
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination accepted)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines, titer, or history of chickenpox)
  • Negative 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, buprenorphine, marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, methadone, opioids, oxycodone, phencyclidine)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or exemption required for healthcare workers during flu season (Oct-April); flu vaccine recommended but not required for school employees
  • COVID-19 vaccination proof or declination form

Background & Verification

  • 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, and sex offender registry
  • Federal background check including all aliases
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM exclusion checks
  • Employment application and professional references (2 professional references within 2 years)
  • Education verification for highest degree obtained
  • Maryland fingerprinting (MD CJIS/DSS/FBI LiveScan) required, must be completed at least 10 days prior to start
  • Maryland State Sex Offender Registry and Medicaid Exclusion List checks

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Clear headshot photo on white background for badge
  • Completion of facility orientation and training manuals, policies acknowledgements, confidentiality agreements, and informed consent forms prior to start
  • Completion of CPS (Child Protective Services) background clearance with notarized consent form prior to start
  • Compliance with facility-specific job description and role expectations

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must bring fingerprint form to appointment and complete LiveScan fingerprinting in Maryland
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training will be done onsite for all candidates; not applicable for school employees
  • FERPA training and annual update required for educational services staff
  • Candidates with positive drug screens for marijuana will not be accepted
  • Candidates must complete all required documentation and verifications prior to or at orientation to avoid removal from assignment
