Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Crescent City, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Monday: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Wednesday: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- 30-minute lunch break
- No on-call or weekend requirements
- No float requirements
Job Summary
Provide direct and indirect patient care in a clinic setting, utilizing comprehensive nursing assessments, care planning, patient education, and ongoing evaluation. Deliver holistic, individualized care considering psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors. Collaborate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers to ensure quality and reliable patient experiences. Adhere to policies, standards, laws, and best practices while engaging in continuous professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment and Planning of Patient Care
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments (physiological, spiritual, emotional).
- Collaborate with physicians and mid-level practitioners to coordinate care.
- Work with peers and management to improve workflow and patient outcomes.
Provision of Patient Care
- Deliver competent, compassionate, and cost-effective care based on evidence-based nursing practices.
- Administer medications and therapeutic agents as ordered.
- Delegate tasks appropriately within legal and professional guidelines.
- Communicate clearly with patients and families, ensuring understanding through teach-back methods.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and stay current with nursing advancements.
Clinic Support
- Support clinical operations as needed.
- Orient and train new staff.
- Manage supplies and provide direction to team members.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Function as a team member and clinical leader when appropriate.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
- Minimum 2 years of recent relevant nursing experience.
- Registered Nurse license in California.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Fluent in English (written, spoken, comprehension).
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of nursing theories, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Understanding of healthcare industry standards, safety policies, patient privacy, and regulatory changes.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently and as part of a team, and manage interruptions.
- Problem-solving skills to resolve standard issues using established protocols.
- Commitment to maintaining patient privacy and building collaborative relationships.
Certifications Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA or ARC only
- California RN License (primary source verification within 30 days of start)
- Additional certifications may be required depending on position (e.g., ACLS, PALS, CCRN) – verify as applicable
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
- Drug screening (9-panel, excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law).
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- TB test or chest X-ray (annual renewal)
- Flu vaccination during flu season or approved declination
- Hepatitis B, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella immunities or boosters as needed
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or failed tests).
- Completion of facility-specific documents and trainings prior to start (e.g., job description review, code of conduct, vendor training).
Additional Notes
- Must provide full 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days.
- Professional references required (2 for clinical/allied/per diem acute care; 1 for per diem non-acute care).
- Candidate must review and sign all required facility policies and attestations prior to start.
