Job Opportunity: Home Health Registered Nurse

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Shift: Days, 5 days a week, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Patient Load: 5-20 visits per day on average
  • Weekend Requirement: Work every 4th weekend (Saturday and Sunday). When scheduled for a weekend, 2 days off are provided around that weekend (e.g., Thursday and Monday).
  • On-Call Requirement: Yes, 3-5 nights per month on-call. On-call nights will only be scheduled on days the nurse has worked (no call on days off).
  • Float: No floating outside scope of practice.
  • Mileage Radius: 40-80 miles coverage area. Mileage reimbursed.
  • Locals Accepted: No
  • Return to Origin (RTO) Restrictions: 7 days
  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Required Experience & Skills

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri.
  • Minimum of 1 year of home health experience, with experience in a home health setting within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Missouri (pending licenses accepted).
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit or specialty (e.g., ACLS, PALS) but not specified as mandatory here.

Additional Requirements

  • Must provide a government-issued driver’s license.
  • Criminal background check required within 6 months of start date.
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree required.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start required.
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start required and must remain valid throughout assignment.
  • Immunization and health documentation required including:
    • Tdap vaccine or declination
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
  • Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually.
  • Must complete facility-specific orientation and compliance training modules prior to start.
  • Two professional references required.

Work Environment & Notes

  • The position involves home health nursing with visits to patients’ homes within a 40-80 mile radius.
  • Nurses will not float outside their scope of practice.
  • Weekend and on-call rotations are part of the schedule.
  • Candidates must be prepared to return all issued equipment upon contract completion.
  • At least 7 days’ notice required to terminate contract before 13 weeks.
