Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse

Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • ICU Registered Nurse for Respiratory Care Unit
  • Day shifts, every other week schedule (EOW)
  • Float and holiday shifts as needed
  • High acuity stepdown unit
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 3:1, up to 4:1 depending on staffing
  • Travel pairs will not be considered

Required Experience

  • Minimum 3 years recent critical care experience
  • Experience with acute and chronically ill patients requiring ventilator support
  • Trauma and Neuro experience required

Preferred Experience

  • Charge RN experience
  • Experience in SICU, MICU, Trauma, and Stroke units
  • Experience with Cerner and Epic electronic health records

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Active Florida or Compact RN license
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification via AHA
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification via AHA
  • NIH Stroke Certification (must have at time of submission)
  • Degree from an accredited school or approved institution by the Florida Board of Nursing
  • Must have Epic experience

Additional Requirements

  • Experience must be consecutive within the past 24 months in a U.S. hospital
  • Local candidates within a 60-mile radius considered
  • Background check within 6 months, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Fingerprinting clearance required prior to start (Florida AHCA Level II)
  • Physical exam within 6 months of start, updated annually
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
  • Required immunizations and health screenings including TB test, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccination or declination during flu season
  • Annual fit testing for approved masks required
  • Completion of multiple online orientation and compliance modules prior to start
  • Passport-style badge photo required

  • Stroke and stroke core measures review

  • HIPAA privacy training
  • Blood administration and anticoagulant therapy course
  • Other specialty-specific modules as applicable

Summary

This is a high-acuity ICU RN travel contract position requiring strong critical care skills, especially in ventilator management, trauma, and neuro care. Candidates must have recent acute care experience, required certifications, and complete extensive onboarding and compliance training. Local candidates within 60 miles are also considered.


Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Florida
  • Minimum 3 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
  • ICU experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Trauma experience
  • Experience with Epic electronic health records
