Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Oncology Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care for adult and geriatric patients with various cancers, including endometrial, bladder, renal, ovarian, and cervical cancers. The role involves administering chemotherapy, participating in clinical trials, and performing specialized procedures such as brachytherapy and neobladder care. Strong emphasis on infection prevention and patient falls management.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to oncology patients, ensuring physical and emotional well-being.
- Administer chemotherapy and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Assist with clinical trials, including data collection and documentation.
- Perform brachytherapy and neobladder care.
- Implement infection prevention protocols.
- Monitor telemetry readings, interpret dysrhythmias, and respond to patient condition changes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary and rapid response teams.
- Manage feeding tubes, IV therapy, blood product administration, and central line maintenance.
- Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic charting system.
Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts: Night shift (typically 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM), 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week).
- Rotating 12-hour day/night shifts possible depending on department needs.
- Staffing ratios generally 1:4, may adjust to 1:5 based on unit needs.
- Weekends variable; no fixed or blocked scheduling.
- Self-scheduling accommodated to balance preferences and unit requirements.
- Orientation: First week Monday-Friday dayshift; second week includes 36 hours of on-unit preceptor orientation.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience
- Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- Oncology nursing experience
- Experience with EPIC electronic charting system

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
