Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Tucson, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

  • Work in Operating Room with service lines including Urology, Pediatric Urology, Pediatric General Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, Plastics, ENT, DaVinci Robotic Surgery, and some Gynecology.
  • Must be proficient in main OR surgeries.
  • Position requires call 1-2 shifts per week, including nights and weekends.
  • Call schedule: 2 weekend calls every 6 weeks (dates subject to change).
  • No block scheduling requests accepted.
  • Candidates with more than 7 days Return to Office (RTO) are not accepted.
  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (6:45 AM to 5:15 PM).
  • No local candidates accepted (travel-only).

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Arizona
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by physician, NP, or PA.
  • Fit testing for N95 mask within 1 year of start (PAPR allowed onsite).
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (full vaccine within 10 years; declinations allowed except for Pediatrics, PICU, Pediatric ER, Mom & Baby, Labor & Delivery units)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (proof of 2 vaccines or positive IgG titer; no declinations)
    • Hepatitis B (proof of 3 vaccines or positive titer; declinations allowed with signed form)
    • Varicella (proof of 2 vaccines or positive IgG titer; no declinations)
  • Negative TB test (QuantiFERON Gold, Tspot, or PPD) within 3 months of start; chest x-ray required if TB test positive.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30) or approved medical/religious exemption with facility-specific form.
  • Drug testing: 12-panel urine drug screen within 30 days of start, must be started within 72 hours of booking.

Background and Documentation

  • Background check must be completed within 30 days of assignment start; includes 7-year history, Pima County AZ search, OFAC, National Sex Offender, all counties and states lived/worked.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
  • NURSYS verification within 30 days of start.
  • Current driver’s license or state ID with current address; name change documentation if applicable.
  • Employment application with last 7 years of work history; gaps over 30 days must be explained.
  • Two professional references from employment within last 3 years, including one supervisory reference.
  • Facility-specific job description and orientation sign-off required.

Orientation

  • Upcoming orientation dates: May 11 and June 1.

Additional Notes

  • Must be willing to work required call shifts including nights and weekends.
  • No block scheduling or local candidates accepted.
