Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract

Location: Beckley, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 40 hours

Job Description

• Role: OR RN Circulator
• Required recent experience: Minimum 2 years
• Clinical experience in Orthopedics, Vascular, Gynecology (GYN), Robotics, ENT, and General surgical cases
• Float within scope of practice may be required
• On-call schedule: every 4th weekend and two nights per week
• Work schedule typically follows a 36/48 hour rotation over two weeks (may fluctuate based on census and call-ins)
• Orientation occurs bi-weekly
• Candidates must reside within 75 miles of the facility

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified (Instructor/Provider/RQI)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certified (Instructor/Provider/RQI)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA certified (Instructor/Provider/RQI)

Note: Certifications can pend with a Certificate of Completion confirming class attendance. Certifications expiring within 30 days of start must be renewed prior to starting.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Clinical experience in Orthopedics, Vascular Surgery, OB/GYN, and ENT Surgery
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Ability to work on-call weekends and nights as scheduled
• Must pass all required background checks and verifications
• Must provide 2 professional references within 1 year of start date (one must be a supervisor or higher)
• Must complete a full employment application and skills checklist annually
• Must verify 7-year work history through a third-party vendor or provide attestation letters if verification attempts fail

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Unexpired government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID)
• Background checks including national criminal search, sex offender registry, fugitive database, county searches for last 7 years, and federal exclusions lists (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
• Education verification
• Professional license primary source verification and NURSYS verification prior to start
• Annual physical exam or physician statement confirming ability to work without restrictions
• Drug testing within 30 days of start using a 9-panel bundle (no THC) with expanded opiates and oxycodone
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (valid within 10 years; Td not accepted)
  • Negative TB test (QuantiFERON blood test within 1 year; T-Spot/PPD not accepted) or chest X-ray if positive TB history
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer
  • Varicella proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declination must be within 1 year)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (must be applied for within 48 hours of offer acceptance)
• OSHA respirator medical evaluation and fit testing (completed onsite; PAPRs not accommodated; exemptions reviewed onsite)
• Completion of facility-specific job description and safety manual acknowledgment
• Medication, pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, and core competency exams as applicable, renewed annually

Additional Notes

• Candidates must submit assignment confirmation within 24 hours of accepting the offer
• Only one job submission at a time is allowed
• Candidates must provide screenshots of required health documentation uploads as proof of compliance
• Fit testing and some certifications may be completed onsite under certain conditions

This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with a strong background in multiple surgical specialties who are comfortable with on-call responsibilities and working a 4x10 hour day schedule.
