Job Opportunity: Radiation Therapist

Location: Irvine, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide radiation therapy to approximately 60-70 patients per day, primarily adult/geriatric with occasional adolescent patients.
• Treatments include use of TrueBeam, Ethos, and MRI-LinAc technologies.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team including radiation therapists, dosimetrists, physicists, nurses, physicians, and support staff.
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 5 shifts of 8 hours each (hours may range from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM based on unit needs and traveler availability). No weekends or on-call required.
• Documentation using EPIC system.
• Grey scrubs required (not provided).
• Orientation: Approximately 3 shifts, with additional orientation as needed.
• First-time travelers are welcome.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Radiation Therapist license in California
• Minimum 3 years of Radiation Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
• ARRT (Therapy) Certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification
• Experience working with adult patients in an outpatient setting
• Proficient in CBCT/kV/mV imaging
• Skilled in External Beam Therapy and IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy)
• Experience with prostate cancer treatment using seeds/fiducials
• Knowledge of respiratory gating and stereotactic radiosurgery
• Familiarity with Varis-Vision/ARIA and TrueBeam systems

Preferred Skills/Experience

• Experience in teaching hospital settings
• CT simulation and custom molds
• Treatment of gynecomastia, keloids, superior vena cava syndrome
• Assisting with intracavity/interstitial administration
• Treatment of various cancers including Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, kidney, leukemia, pancreatic, and testicular cancers
• Familiarity with Siemens, Varian 21 ex/ix, Varian Trilogy, Vision RT
• Experience with patient restraints, crash cart, defibrillators, emergency cases
• Use of lift/transfer devices
• Patient and family education
• Billing for treatment types and devices
• Isolation precautions and rapid response/code team protocols

Additional Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Background checks including social security trace, education verification, and others as applicable
• Compliance with health and safety documentation including:

  • Physical exam within last 12 months
  • Fit mask testing (N95) annually
  • Immunizations and titers for Tdap, TB, MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug screening (10-panel oral drug screen within 1 year)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
  • COVID vaccination series including booster or approved medical/religious exemptions
  • Respirator questionnaire and clearance annually
• Annual competency exams and skills checklists as applicable
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement and job description review required

• No prior travel experience required; first-time travelers are accepted.
• Schedule is weekday only with no weekend or on-call shifts.
• Grey scrubs must be provided by the traveler.
