Job Summary

Seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) for an outpatient setting with an ASAP start. May consider PTA candidates as well. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, primarily day shift (1st shift). No call, weekend, or float requirements.

Work Schedule

• Monday to Thursday: 7:00 AM – 6:15 PM
• Friday: 7:00 AM – 4:45 PM

Job Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

• Follow the plan of care and goals established by the Physical Therapist
• Provide direct patient care including physical, electrical, mechanical, and heat treatments
• Conduct individual and/or group Physical Therapy activities according to treatment plan
• Educate family and community members
• Participate in interdisciplinary team discussions and hospital rounds
• Develop programs and serve as a resource in areas of expertise
• Participate in student programs and rotations
• Provide in-services within the rehabilitation system
• Cross-train and provide coverage in other rehabilitation departments as needed

Administrative Duties

• Document in the electronic health record timely and accurately
• Communicate any documentation limitations to leadership
• Maintain accurate, legible, and complete patient records
• Participate in committees, task forces, and process improvement initiatives
• Demonstrate effective time management
• Supervise Rehab Clinical Assistants, PTA students, and volunteers
• Maintain and upgrade competencies based on patient population and advances in healthcare

Physical Demands

• Considerable standing or walking
• Regular lifting of light-weight objects (up to 20 pounds)
• Assisting with heavier lifting and moving of patients
• Some fatiguing physical motions and minor straining positions

Required Qualifications

• Valid Physical Therapy Assistant license in Michigan
• Minimum of 1 year of Physical Therapy Assistant experience, including experience within the last year

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search
• Government-issued photo ID
• I-9 and E-Verify documentation
• Education verification (copy of highest degree or diploma)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Drug testing: 10-panel including Marijuana/THC within 30 days of start
• Immunizations and health documents:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (proof of at least one prior Tdap vaccine)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption (for candidates starting after November 1)
• Fingerprinting (Michigan LARA) within 45 days of start as required for facility
• Completion of facility-specific documents such as Code of Conduct, Appearance Standards, and Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement

• Shift is primarily days, Monday through Friday with extended hours Monday-Thursday
• May require cross-training within rehabilitation services
• Supervision responsibilities include Rehab Clinical Assistants and students
