Job Opportunity: Special Education Teacher
Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: Approximately 6 weeks
Job Details
- Position available for the 26/27 school year
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
- Openings across all grade levels from Pre-K through 12th grade in various settings
- Candidates should specify their preference for age group and setting
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Special Education Teacher
- Recent Special Education Teacher experience within the last year
- Must hold a valid Colorado teaching license or be in the process of obtaining licensure
- CDE Special Education Generalist educator certificate required for Special Education teachers
- Special Education teachers working in Early Childhood must have Early Childhood Special Education (0-8) endorsement
- Candidates may start with certification pending if the application has been submitted to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) and is in process
- Completion of the Colorado CAPS Release Authorization form is required prior to background checks
- Fingerprinting through Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and FBI required; candidates must complete two sets of prints (one for agency, one for client)
- Mandatory Reporter training specific to Colorado educational services is required and must be updated annually
- Educational Services - State Teaching Certificate and Credential verification required
- FERPA training and acknowledgement required and must be updated annually

Background and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 1 year of start and updated annually, including multiple searches (SS Trace, Federal, Nationwide, County, Sex Offender) for the last 7 years of residency/work/school
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 1 year of start and updated annually
- Official or unofficial transcripts required for all candidates
- Drug testing only if specifically requested by the client
- Physical exam, TB testing, and immunizations only if required by client or state
