Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MICU

Location: Columbia, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Work primarily in Adult ICU Cluster with secondary floating to Med Surg.
  • Every other weekend and 50% of holidays required.
  • Rotating shifts including holidays and work during inclement weather.
  • Active role requiring ambulation, reaching, and moving objects over 20 lbs.
  • Exposure to patients with contagious illnesses.
  • Must be able to work full shifts, take call, and work assigned weekends and holidays.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
  • Minimum of 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Med Surg (Medical-Surgical) experience

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS: Basic Life Support (AHA or ARC Provider card).
  • ABLS: Advanced Burn Life Support.
  • ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA or ARC Provider card).
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., TNCC for ER RNs starting 11/5/2024).

Physical & Work Environment Demands

  • Must meet physical demands with or without accommodation.
  • Active role requiring physical movement and lifting.
  • Exposure to contagious illnesses.
  • Facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year.

Compliance & Screening Requirements

  • Background check (7 years) required within 60 days of start.
  • Drug screening: Negative 7-panel within 60 days of start.
  • Immunizations and health screenings required, including but not limited to:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
    • Tdap vaccination within 10 years or approved exemption.
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination.
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination.
    • Hepatitis B series or immunity.
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season.
  • Fit mask test required annually (specific mask types accepted).
  • State-specific background and caregiver registry checks required.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work at assigned location for the full contract term.
  • Must be able to work substantial time of assigned shifts.
  • Must be able to take call and work assigned weekends and holidays.
  • Photo ID and proof of eligibility to work required.
  • Professional references (2) within last 2 years.
  • Resume with at least 7 years of employment history or from graduation with no gaps over 30 days.
  • Completion of orientation and safety manuals as required.

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers with strong ICU experience are welcome.
  • Floating between Adult ICU and Med Surg units is required.
  • Rotating shifts and holiday work are mandatory.
  • This is a travel contract position with a 13-week duration.
