Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
- Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted (manager open to interviewing)
- On-Call: No
- Floating: Within service line and to all behavioral health units
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Local Candidates: Not accepted within 75-mile radius
- Pending License: Accepted
- Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 7 days off
- Guaranteed Hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks (cancelled shifts must be full length)
Specialty & Patient Population
- Adult psychiatric and geriatric patients (18+ years)
- Patients with co-morbid medical conditions requiring med-surg approach
- Diagnoses may include dementia, depression, Parkinson's disease, bipolar disorder, anxiety
- Some patients require pre-op preparation for Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
Required Skills
- Geriatric care

- Substance use/chemical dependency
- Medication administration (PO, rectal, IM, IV, SC, etc.)
- Starting and maintaining IVs
- Blood glucose monitoring
- Foley catheter insertion and maintenance
- Presence in milieu
- Restraint application
- Ability to work as charge nurse as needed
Certifications Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card (or Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) if applicable)
- Epic experience (electronic health record system)
- Medical and psychiatric nursing experience required
Additional Requirements
- Must have experience with adult psychiatric and geriatric populations
- Ability to float to other behavioral health units with similar patient populations
- Must be able to perform IV starts and restraint application
- Must be able to work night shifts and meet weekend requirements
Compliance & Background Checks
- Government-issued ID required
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- Education verification required
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Fingerprinting required for assignments in Illinois long-term care or rehab units
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers required: Tdap, TB screening, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- Various facility-specific compliance documents and training modules must be completed prior to start

- Performance evaluations may be requested but not mandatory for extensions
