Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: First shift, 8.5 hours/day (7:30 am to 4 pm or 8 am to 4:30 pm)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, no weekends, no on-call, no holidays
Job Summary
Seeking a Clinical Dietitian with previous hospital experience. The role involves evaluating and assessing high-risk patients, providing nutrition education, managing therapeutic diets, and serving as a resource and mentor to students and staff. The position requires the ability to work independently and effectively from the start of the contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and complete assessments/consultations on high-risk patients, including those on enteral and parenteral nutrition.
- Review and analyze patient nutritional status, lab values, medications, and medical history to develop care plans and nutrition goals.
- Educate in-patients and out-patients on therapeutic diets considering drug-food interactions, lifestyle, cultural, and economic factors.
- Provide nutrition services to ESRD patients receiving outpatient dialysis, including evaluations and follow-ups.
- Calculate and develop therapeutic diets and menus; serve as a resource for Food & Nutrition Services staff.
- Precept and mentor medical students, dietetic students, interns, and hospital staff; participate in educational activities and hospital committees.
- Order or modify Medical Nutrition Therapy orders within the dietitian’s scope of practice.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) license in Ohio.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent hospital work experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
- Bachelor’s degree in dietetics or food and nutrition, along with completion of a dietetic internship.
- Previous hospital work experience as a Dietitian.
Additional Requirements
- Locals and first-time travel dietitians accepted.
- Must be able to start effectively with minimal training.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background check within the past year, including multi-level screenings.
- Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service.
- State license primary source verification required.
- Drug screening (9 panel) within 30 days of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series (declination accepted)
- Annual TB questionnaire.
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start (except lab workers), updated annually.
- Seasonal flu vaccination required (no declinations accepted).
- COVID vaccination preferred but not required.
- Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklist updated annually.
- Verification of last 3 years of employment and 2 professional references within 2 years.

- Hospital setting with interdisciplinary team collaboration.
- No weekend, holiday, or on-call duties.
- First shift schedule with consistent hours.
