Job Opportunity: Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours

Job Description

• Position for a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) with 1 year of experience required.
• Must hold a current Louisiana state license.
• Epic electronic health record experience is required.
• Weekend work required every other weekend.
• Holiday work required.
• No call or float requirements.
• Strict 5-day maximum return to office (RTO) policy.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Louisiana
• Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Louisiana State Respiratory Therapist License (must be in hand before start)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Clinical Skills & Equipment Experience

• Experience with Nitric Oxide therapy, ECMO, and bedside bronchoscopies.
• Familiarity with ventilators: Puritan Bennett 840 and 980.
• Experience with Bipap: Phillips V60.
• Experience with transport ventilators: Pneutron, Newport, and Parapac.

• Scrubs color: Gray

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID matching all documentation.
• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel including marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, etc.).
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days.
• Skills checklist updated within 12 months of start and annually.
• Medication, Dysrhythmia/EKG, and other competency exams required annually with minimum 80% score.
• Core competencies (Parts I, II, III) required and updated annually.
• Employee appearance policy acknowledgment.
• Flu vaccination or declination documentation required annually during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31).
• Immunization requirements:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper documentation).
  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (boosters required if titers low).
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination within 12 months of start.
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (boosters required if titer low).
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol (two-step skin test or equivalent within 3 months of start).
  • Annual TB questionnaire regardless of TB test result.
