Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

  • Position requires floating to multiple units including NICU, PICU, ED, Stepdown, and Medical-Surgical as needed.
  • Must be willing to comply with facility float expectations and will be assigned appropriately.
  • Ohio State or Compact RN license required.
  • Prefers close to 2 years of nursing experience.
  • 2 supervisory references required; at least one must be from a supervisor or manager.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of specialty experience preferred.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Ohio State or Compact RN license required.
  • Required certifications (AHA only):
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – required for NICU RNs
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
    • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – as applicable
  • Verification of state license and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start.

Compliance & Background Checks

  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including 7-year county search and education verification.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
  • Fingerprinting (OH BCI/FBI) required within 60 days of start and must be updated for each new contract.
  • Sex offender search, Ohio Nurse Aide Registry, Ohio Inmate Registry, Ohio Medicaid Exemption, and Ohio State Abuse Registry searches required within 30 days of start.
  • Education verification through National Student Clearinghouse required.
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (agency standard).
  • N95 Fit Testing required within 1 year of start; annual updates required.
  • TDAP vaccine within 10 years of start.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol; TB questionnaire required at start and annually.
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (declination or proof of vaccination/titer accepted)
    • Varicella
  • Seasonal flu vaccine required October 31 - May 31; medical/religious exemptions require facility approval and documentation.

Additional Requirements

  • Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually.
  • Employment application or resume required.
  • Code of Conduct and Confidentiality/IT Use Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
  • Floating to multiple units is mandatory.
