Registered Nurse (OR RN) - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Westwood, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Must be able to circulate in orthopedics, spine, robotics, and general surgery.
• Heavy orthopedic experience required.
• Shift: Three 12-hour day shifts, block scheduling available.
• Call required and rotating weekends.
• Charting system: Epic experience required.
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of specialty experience required.
• Prior travel experience not required.

Certifications Required (as applicable)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
• CHEMO (Chemotherapy)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
• NIH Stroke Certification
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

Competencies

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
• Color Blind Testing (online version acceptable)
• Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
• Core Parts I, II, III (for subcontractors, annual completion required)

Licensure and Verification

• Primary source online verification of state license required.
• NURSYS verification required for RN licenses.

Background and Documentation Requirements

• 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire.
• Education verification required (highest level of education).
• Work history verification for 7 years required; NJ mandates minimum 1 year prior verified with no gaps over 30 days.
• Complete application/resume required.
• Unit-specific skills checklist required annually.

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start.
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, must be renewed annually.
• Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years of start.
• Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year of start.
• TB questionnaire within 90 days of start for positive results, renewed annually.
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if negative/equivocal.
• Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted; boosters accepted if negative/equivocal.
• Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required; boosters required if negative/equivocal.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31).
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required (dose 1 and fully vaccinated if applicable).

Additional Notes

• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement and photo for badge required.
• Fingerprinting required only for New Mexico placements (not applicable here).
• Locals within 50 miles are not accepted for this position.

This position is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses with strong orthopedic skills who are comfortable with block scheduling and rotating weekends in a travel/contract role. Epic charting experience is mandatory.
