Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology (IR) Tech

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Interventional Radiology Tech)
• Shift: 4x10 hour days (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
• Call Requirements:

  • Call rotation averaging 10 days per month, including weekends
  • Weekend call required
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week guaranteed (facility may low census/cancel hours)
• Holiday Work: Must be available to work 4 out of 8 major holidays (Thanksgiving Eve, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, 12/26, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Locals: Candidates must live more than 70 miles from the facility (no local candidates accepted)
• Floating: No floating outside scope of practice
• Pending License: Accepted at manager's discretion
• Return to Office (RTO): Requests must be submitted with application; additional requests at manager discretion

Experience & Certifications

• Required Years of Experience: 2 years in specialty (higher value confirmed)
• First-time Travelers: Accepted
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
• Required Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • Epic experience required
• Preferred/Additional Certifications: ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification (depending on unit)

Clinical Requirements & Skills

• Experience with Outpatient, Inpatient, and Adult ICU settings required
• Proficient with PACS, C-Arm, Contrast, and Biopsies
• Experience with:

  • Stents, angioplasty, angiograms
  • Paracentesis, thoracentesis, nephrogram
  • Peripheral procedures, biopsies, drainages
  • Vascular studies, venous access, neuro studies
  • Genitourinary (GU), abdomen, pelvis, upper/lower extremity procedures
• Must be able to use and deploy:

  • Pushable/detachable coils
  • Micro catheters and micro wires
  • Snare kits
  • Injector systems (preferably ACIST)

Facility & Work Environment

• 356-bed non-profit, research and academic medical center
• Part of a larger health system and affiliated with a medical school
• Scrubs provided

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks: Criminal background check within 12 months, including SSN trace, 7-year county history, nationwide search, sex offender search
• Licensure: Primary source verification required prior to start (Missouri or compact license accepted)
• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
  • Drug screening within 12 months
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (annual)
  • COVID vaccine series preferred
  • OSHA Respirator Clearance required prior to start (fit testing done onsite)
• Orientation & Training:

  • Completion of facility-specific modules and orientation checklists required
  • AbioMed Impella online training required for ICU/CCU and Cath Lab candidates (annual update)
• Other Required Documents:

  • Photo for badge (passport style)
  • Confidentiality and security agreements
  • Standards of ethical conduct and relevant policies

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be willing to work assigned call and holiday schedules
• Fit testing requires candidates to be clean-shaven; refusal may result in cancellation
• Modules and training must be completed prior to or during orientation
• No floating outside scope of practice

This position is ideal for IR Techs with solid experience in interventional procedures, comfortable with call and holiday work, and who meet the certification and compliance requirements.
