Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics - Columbus, Ohio

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Requirements

  • Experience: Prefer close to 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Floating: Required to float between CTICU, NICU, H8A (pulmonary), and Core (general/ED) units.
  • Licensure: Ohio State license required for Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs).
  • References: Must provide 2 supervisory references (charge nurses count as only 1 reference).
  • Professional References: Peer references are not acceptable.

Certifications & Licenses

  • State License: OH State or Compact RN license for RNs; OH State license required for RRTs.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA certification required (Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted).
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA certification required.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): AHA certification required.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure): AHA/AAP certification required for NICU RNs.
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Required as applicable.
  • Tech Cert Verification: NBRC required for RRTs.
  • ENPC: Required as applicable.
  • NURSYS Verification: Required for RNs, LPNs/LVNs.

Background & Compliance Checks

  • Criminal Background Check: Within 30 days of start; 7-year search including all counties lived/worked.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG Checks: Required within 30 days of start.
  • Fingerprinting: OH BCI/FBI fingerprinting required within 60 days of start; must be updated for each new contract.
  • Education Verification: Must verify highest degree through National Student Clearing House or in-house verification if needed.
  • Sex Offender Search: Required within 30 days of start; standalone verification.
  • State Specific Searches: Ohio Nurse Aide Registry, Ohio Inmate Registry, Ohio Medicaid Exemption, and Ohio State Abuse Registry required within 30 days of start.
  • Drug Testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; instant acceptable.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start; must confirm candidate is free of communicable diseases.
  • Fit Mask (N95 Fit Testing): Required within 1 year of start; must be updated annually.
  • TDAP Vaccine: Required within 10 years of start; vaccine must be completed after age 11.
  • TB Testing: Negative TB test or chest x-ray required; specific protocols for positive results.
  • Immunizations:
    • Rubeola (Measles): Positive titer or 2 vaccines required.
    • Mumps: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required.
    • Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required.
    • Hepatitis B: Declination, completed vaccine series, or positive titer required.
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required.
  • Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 31 - May 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted with documentation.
  • COVID-19 Vaccine: Optional; declinations and exemptions accepted with proper documentation.

Competency Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Passing score required as applicable.
  • Competency Exam: Required as applicable to profession/specialty.

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Code of Conduct: Must review and sign acknowledgment pages prior to documentation due date.
  • Confidentiality and IT Use Agreement: Must review and sign prior to documentation due date.
  • Affiliating Health Record: Completed by Quality Management; address must match official documents.
  • Infection Control Policy: Must review and sign prior to start.
  • Fingerprinting Proof of Submission: Must be completed within 24-48 hours of signing contract.
  • TB Questionnaire: Required at start and annually; facility-specific form.
  • Flu Exemption Policy: Required for candidates with approved flu vaccine exemption; mask required during flu season.

Additional Notes

  • Legal name on all documents must match exactly (no nicknames or misspellings).
  • Temporary IDs or licenses are generally not acceptable unless approved.
  • Floating between multiple units is mandatory.
  • Candidates with a beard have options for fit testing compliance (shave or PAPR/CAPR).
  • All certifications must be official; screenshots or photos are not accepted.
