Job Opportunity: PICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Nights, 36 hours/week
Start Date: ASAP, ideally within 4-6 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- Experience Required:
- Minimum 2 years as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- At least 1 year of PICU experience
- Prior travel experience required: Must have completed at least 12 months (1 year) in a traveler setting; first-time travelers will not be accepted
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- License Requirements:
- Must hold a valid Missouri RN license and either a Kansas RN license or a Compact RN license

Required Qualifications & Compliance
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Minimum of 1 year of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience within the last year
- One year or more of total travel nursing experience
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- Government-issued photo ID required on site
- Background checks including county, statewide, and sex offender searches for Missouri and Kansas
- E-Verify proof or attestation required
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray as per facility policy
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B vaccination or titer proof
- Seasonal flu vaccination required (no declinations accepted)
- Competency exams including pediatric pharmacology and medication tests
- Color blindness testing required
- References: 2 supervisory references or performance evaluations within 1 year of start
- Skills checklist specific to pediatric nursing required
Additional Notes
- Orientation includes medication calculation/dosage testing with a 100% pass requirement
- Facility uses Cerner for charting
- Free parking with permit provided
- Scrub color: Any kid-friendly color or pattern
