Job Opportunity: PICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Nights, 36 hours/week
Start Date: ASAP, ideally within 4-6 weeks

Position Details

Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
Experience Required:
- Minimum 2 years as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- At least 1 year of PICU experience
- Prior travel experience required: Must have completed at least 12 months (1 year) in a traveler setting; first-time travelers will not be accepted
Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
License Requirements:
- Must hold a valid Missouri RN license and either a Kansas RN license or a Compact RN license

Required Qualifications & Compliance

Valid RN license in Missouri
Minimum of 1 year of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience within the last year
One year or more of total travel nursing experience
ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience working with pediatric patients
Government-issued photo ID required on site
Background checks including county, statewide, and sex offender searches for Missouri and Kansas
E-Verify proof or attestation required
Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start
Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray as per facility policy
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B vaccination or titer proof
- Seasonal flu vaccination required (no declinations accepted)
Competency exams including pediatric pharmacology and medication tests
Color blindness testing required
References: 2 supervisory references or performance evaluations within 1 year of start
Skills checklist specific to pediatric nursing required

Additional Notes

Orientation includes medication calculation/dosage testing with a 100% pass requirement
Facility uses Cerner for charting
