Job Opportunity: PICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Nights, 36 hours/week
Start Date: ASAP, ideally within 4-6 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
  • Experience Required:
    • Minimum 2 years as a Registered Nurse (RN)
    • At least 1 year of PICU experience
    • Prior travel experience required: Must have completed at least 12 months (1 year) in a traveler setting; first-time travelers will not be accepted
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • License Requirements:
    • Must hold a valid Missouri RN license and either a Kansas RN license or a Compact RN license

Required Qualifications & Compliance

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Minimum of 1 year of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience within the last year
  • One year or more of total travel nursing experience
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience working with pediatric patients
  • Government-issued photo ID required on site
  • Background checks including county, statewide, and sex offender searches for Missouri and Kansas
  • E-Verify proof or attestation required
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start
  • Immunizations and health requirements:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray as per facility policy
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B vaccination or titer proof
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required (no declinations accepted)
  • Competency exams including pediatric pharmacology and medication tests
  • Color blindness testing required
  • References: 2 supervisory references or performance evaluations within 1 year of start
  • Skills checklist specific to pediatric nursing required

  • Orientation includes medication calculation/dosage testing with a 100% pass requirement
  • Facility uses Cerner for charting
  • Free parking with permit provided
  • Scrub color: Any kid-friendly color or pattern
