Surgical Services Travel/Contract Position

Location: Chambersburg, Pennsylvania

Job Details

• Schedule:

  • 5 to 8 hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
  • Weekends and holidays as needed by unit
  • Call as needed by unit
• Floating: As needed
• Holidays: Expected to work 2 of 3 major holidays; no return to office (RTO) between Christmas and New Year's
• COVID-19: May care for COVID patients
• Facility Policy: Tobacco and fragrance-free environment

Requirements

• Certification:

  • Must be certified by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) as either:

    • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or
    • Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA)
• Experience: Minimum 2 years
• Licenses/Certifications:

  • NBSTSA certification required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• EMR Experience: EPIC experience required
• Travelers: First-time travelers accepted
• Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Pennsylvania FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start; can start with results pending but must be finalized within 45 days
• Education verification of highest degree required
• Drug testing: Negative 9-panel within 1 year (Aya requirement only)
• 2 professional references within 3 years
• Most recent resume/application required
• Annual skills checklist required

Certifications and Competencies

• ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIH Stroke Certification as applicable (refer to unit/job description)
• Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (pass/fail) required for RNs except OR and Home Health
• State license primary source verification required
• NURSYS verification for RN, LPN/LVN, AP

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NPT
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
• Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days; PPD not accepted
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
• Hepatitis B: Positive titer or full vaccine series (3 doses) plus declination form if applicable
• Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
• Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season; medical or religious exemptions accepted with documentation
• COVID-19 vaccine or medical/religious exemption or declination accepted
• Respiratory safety clearance required within 1 year, renewed annually

Facility Specific Documents and Requirements

• Passport-style photo for badge (professional appearance, solid light background)
• Review and sign facility policies including:

  • Confidentiality Agreement
  • Non-Employee Affidavit
• Completion of WellSpan Learning Management System (LMS) modules for RNs and CNAs prior to start
• New hire orientation required by end of first day

State-Specific Requirements (Pennsylvania)

• Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search (PA Childline) required within 5 years; can start with results pending but must be finalized within 45 days
• Pennsylvania Department of Human Services fingerprinting required within 5 years; can start with results pending but must be finalized within 45 days
• Pennsylvania State Police PATCH search required within 1 year; must be finalized prior to start
