Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Dothan, Alabama
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights

License Requirements

• Must have a current Alabama (AL) or compact nursing license.
• Facility requires an exact match between the name on Driver’s License, Social Security Card, and nursing license.
• All licenses expiring during the assignment must show proof of renewal before the start date.
• NURSYS verification required for all RNs.

Experience

• Specialty: Registered Nurse

Distance Requirement

• Candidate must live at least 90 miles from the facility.

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – ARC, AHA, or US Department of Defense accepted.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – ARC, AHA, or US Department of Defense accepted.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – as applicable.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – as applicable.
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – as applicable.
• NIH Stroke Certification (NIHSS) – required for all RNs except Pediatrics, NICU, and Surgery units. Must be current within 1 year and renewed annually.
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement – required for all candidates.

Background Checks & Verifications

• 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for every contract renewal.
• Education verification via clearinghouse, agency verification, or official transcript.
• Shirley’s Law APS Clearance Form and results (Alabama-specific, time sensitive, must be completed prior to orientation).

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands (initial and annual).
• Fit mask test within 1 year prior to start (specific approved mask models).
• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year; chest X-ray if prior positive.
• TB Questionnaire required.
• Immunizations or titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap required only for Pediatrics unit.
• Seasonal Flu Vaccination required for all placements starting on or after September 15; no declinations accepted except medical or religious exemptions on facility form.
• COVID vaccine is voluntary.

Competency Exams & Documentation

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam – as applicable.
• Core Exams I-III from Prophecy highly preferred (HIPAA attestation required).
• Proof of 2 clinical references within the last 12 months (may extend to 18 months if necessary).
• Complete employment application/resume.
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units.

Facility Specific Requirements

• Completion of facility-specific modules before orientation; no time to complete during orientation.
• Photo for badge (passport-style, no nose rings) must be submitted within 72 hours of signing.
• Preferred badge name must be confirmed.

• Candidate must bring a valid Driver’s License on the first day.
• Name on all documents must match exactly.
• Facility enforces a 90-mile radius rule for candidate residence.
• Time-sensitive APS clearance and background checks must be completed prior to orientation.
