Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract

Location: Redlands, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

  • Position: Emergency Room Registered Nurse
  • Facility Type: Fast-paced community hospital ER
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Start Dates: 12/30 or 1/07 only
  • Single Return to Office (RTO) of 7 consecutive days or less considered; no holiday RTO
  • Minimum weekend coverage: every other weekend
  • Orientation: 24 hours

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years RN experience required
  • At least 18 months as core staff in first nursing job
  • No new graduates or first-time travelers accepted
  • No pediatric-only experience
  • No local candidates within 50 miles
  • History of extended assignments preferred
  • No history of cancellations

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (AHA only; RQI not accepted)
  • BLS (AHA only; RQI not accepted)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) - AB508 compliant certificate required
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • PALS (AHA only)

Skills & Experience Required

  • General Emergency Department experience (combined adult/pediatric)
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Blood Pressure Assessment (BPA)
  • Central line care and management
  • Starting IVs
  • Continuous IV sedation
  • IV vasopressors
  • Care of CVA patients
  • CPAP/BiPAP management
  • Ventilated patients care
  • Isolation precautions
  • Triage

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Stroke certification facility experience
  • Arterial line management
  • Phlebotomy
  • Procedural sedation administration
  • ICP monitoring
  • Neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury
  • Ortho-trauma, head injury, near drowning
  • Interpretation of ABGs
  • Gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations

Technology & Support

  • Omnicell medication system
  • Meditech documentation system
  • Provider support includes interpretation services, lift teams, pharmacy, phlebotomy, physical therapy, radiology, respiratory services, social services, and unit secretary
  • Provider coverage includes Intensivist, Nurse Practitioner, Hospitalist, and Anesthesiologist

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • I9 verification
  • Unexpired government-issued photo ID or passport
  • E-Verify
  • Background checks including SS trace, county searches (7 years), nationwide, sex offender, and international if applicable
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Professional references (2 within 2 years)

  • Skills checklist (annual)
  • Work history verification

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within last 12 months, updated annually
  • Fit mask testing with approved masks; no facial hair allowed during fit testing
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination (mask required if declining)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days (or per facility policy for past positives)
  • Immunizations or positive titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • 10-panel drug screen including THC within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination by 10/31 (mask required if declining)
  • COVID-19 vaccination plus 1 booster or approved exemption
  • Color blind exam (Ishihara test) for clinical positions
