Registered Nurse (ICU/CCU) - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Jacksonville, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

Shift: Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Patient Ratio: 1:2 ratio for all shifts in a 4-bed ICU
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years ICU/CCU nursing experience
First-timers Accepted: Yes
Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
License: Active Illinois RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)
On-call: Not required
Floating: Floating within scope as needed
Schedule: Open to block schedule requests (discuss with manager)
Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
NIH certification

Required Skills & Experience

Cardiac Monitoring & Emergency Response

Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Multi-system organ failure management
Obtain and interpret 12-lead EKGs
IV insulin protocols experience

IV Therapy

Arterial line management
Blood product administration
Central line and PICC line care/management
Starting IVs

Medication Management

Continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade
Continuous IV sedation
Emergency medications
Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips

Respiratory/Thoracic Care

Assist with BiPAP and CPAP management
Assist with chest tube insertion/removal
Care of ventilated patients
High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) management
Interpretation of ABGs
Suctioning (ETT, NT)
Ventilator management

Professional Topics & Skills

Infection prevention and isolation precautions (use of PPE)
Care of surgical wounds with drains and wound vacs
Cerner charting experience preferred

Valid/current US Driver’s License or State ID
Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
Illinois-specific state searches and registries within 30 days prior to start
Education verification (degree or transcript)
Competency exam required for clinical candidates
Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
Immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
