Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Randallstown, Maryland
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Description
- 16 hours call per month
- Up to 1:1 patient ratio
- Every third weekend shift required
- Handles a wide range of surgical procedures including General, Urology, Gynecology, Colorectal, Vascular, Spine, etc.
- Specializes in Orthopedics, Robotic, Plastic, and Endoscopic cases
- No Cardiology, Brain, or Pediatrics procedures
Required Experience
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 2 years typical for travel RN roles unless otherwise specified

Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Provider Certification or equivalent
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Provider Certification or equivalent
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as required
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - as required
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - as required
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as required
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - as required
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - as required
- NIH Stroke Certification - if applicable, valid for 1 year only
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (Relias or Prophecy only) - must be renewed annually; 3 attempts allowed with remediation process
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam - as applicable
- Unit-Specific Competency Exam - required
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) - time sensitive and mandatory
Licensure & Verification
- State RN License verification required (Primary Source Verification)
- NURSYS Verification required for all RNs
- Education Verification and Transcript/Diploma preferred (required for out-of-state education)
- Background Check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam within 1 year confirming ability to perform essential job functions
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year (pending results allowed before start)
- TB Questionnaire updated annually
- Immunizations:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (Titer, Series, or Declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Drug Testing: Negative 9 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days of start
- Flu Seasonal Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- Respirator Fit Test (Fit Mask) to be completed onsite; annual expiration required for new contracts
Facility & Compliance Requirements
- Badge photo required
- Completion of facility-specific forms including attendance, floating, and time & attendance policies
- ReadySet account setup and completion of health assessment surveys prior to start
- Stroke and Trauma CEUs may be required; stroke CEUs must be completed prior to or within one week of start; trauma CEUs required after 27 weeks of work
- References: 2 professional references within 2 years of start required for travel acute care RNs
- Employment Application and Work History Verification required (verification of 2 workplaces within last 7 years)
- Unit-specific skills checklist required
Additional Notes
- Candidate must be prepared for a variety of surgical specialties but no cardio, brain, or pediatric cases
- Every third weekend coverage and call hours required
- Compliance with all background, health, and competency requirements is mandatory prior to start
- EKG/Dysrhythmia exam is a critical, time-sensitive requirement with limited attempts and remediation process
